Review: 2020 Jeep Gladiator

Design and Features

The Jeep Gladiator can comfortably fit up to five passengers and has plenty of room for luggage and accessories in its 5-foot cargo bed designed with a three-position tailgate. All four doors are removable, the windshield can be folded down, and you have the option of a zipperless Sunrider® soft top or a removable three-piece Freedom Top® hardtop. An industry-exclusive weatherproof, rechargeable and removable Bluetooth® wireless speaker, an exclusive forward-facing TrailCam off-road camera, a Trail Rail™ adjustable tie-down system, lockable and removable storage bin underneath the rear seat, and a roll-up tonneau bed cover are available.


The muscle behind the Sport, Sport S, Overland, and Rubicon trims is a 3.6-liter Pentastar® V6 engine mated to a 6-speed manual transmission with Command-Trac® part-time 4WD. This engine generates 285-hp and 260 lb-ft of torque and utilizes stop-start technology and is capable of towing up to 7,650 pounds and can handle a payload of up to 1,600 pounds. Optional are lockable wide track axles, front and rear Tru-Lok® locking differentials, an electronic disconnecting front sway bar, and branded FOX shocks.


Standard safety features consist of electronic roll mitigation, traction control, electronic stability control, anti-lock 4-wheel disc HD brakes, hill start assist, a trailer sway control system, and advanced multistage front airbags. Additionally, a ParkView® rear backup camera with dynamic gridlines which features a 4X trailer hitch zoom comes standard. Optional features include blind spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning with active braking, trailer brake controller, automatic crash notification service, and ParkSense® rear park assist.
